GENDER EQUALITY
Gender is the nature and behavior that is attached to men and women that are formed socially and culturally in certain societies at certain times and gender roles can change from time to time following the times. Gender is also commonly referred to as the views or beliefs formed by society about how a woman or man should behave or think.
In principle, gender equality is an assumption of all people in the same position and equal. With that, every individual has the same rights to be able to play a role and participate in all activities, respecting the functions and duties of each, so that no one in power. Gender equality also eliminates discrimination and injustice, both for men and women
Islam has given rules regarding the roles and functions of each in life. There are differences and similarities that cannot be seen as gender equality or inequality. The division is merely a division of tasks that are considered equally important in the effort to achieve ultimate happiness under the solitude of God alone. Islam also has given the rights of women fairly, women do not need to ask let alone demand or fight for it, as in the letter Al Ahzab: 35
It means: "Indeed, Muslim men and women, men and women of believers, men and women who are in obedience, men and women who are true, men and women who are patient, men and women who are khusyu ', men and women who give alms, men and women who fast, men and women who maintain their honor, men who chant (name) Allah, Allah has provided for them great forgiveness and merit. "
The purpose of the above verse, as humans, both parties have the same rights and obligations, the reward and goodness in the hereafter is the same. Every individual will be judged based on the deeds they have done in the world. Basically gender in an Islamic perspective considers women to have the same position as men, namely as servants of God. We can see in today's life, that gender equality is more often marked by the similarity in all aspects of life for both men and women. For example in terms of work, that if men can work A then women can also work A. Though equality does not have to be like that, because there are certain conditions that can indeed distinguish between men and women such as physical and psychological conditions. But for the fulfillment of other rights such as the right to life, the right to education or the right to get a guarantee of a decent life, of course, must get the same rights. Therefore, the existence of gender equality can not be separated from human nature that between men and women do have differences in physical and psychological terms. There are things that can indeed be done by men but not for women and that cannot be forced must be done by both.
In the world of education this must also be considered, that both men and women must have the same right to receive education. Besides that in the education process there must still be certain limitations between men and women, not merely gender discrimination but indeed not all things can be generalized between men and women in order to preserve the nature and respect of human beings mentioned above. Therefore, the existence of gender equality does not mean that all aspects of men and women must always be equal. Because God created men and women with different conditions, it means that between men and women in their lives there must be differences too. Do not force you to want everything to be the same, but it must remain in accordance with the nature given by God to him
